P0330 — Knock Sensor 2 Circuit — Bank 2

CAUTIONIs it safe to drive? Same protective timing retard as P0325 — drivable but you'll feel the power loss; don't delay on a V6/V8 where Bank 2 covers half the engine.

What P0330 means

On V-configuration engines, Bank 2 is the side opposite cylinder 1. The second knock sensor covers that bank. A circuit fault there means the ECM can't detect detonation on Bank 2 cylinders and defaults to protective timing.

Most likely causes (in order)

  1. Connector or wiring fault on Bank 2 sensor (start here)
  2. Knock sensor element failed
  3. Sensor torque incorrect
  4. Coolant or oil leak contacting wiring harness
  5. Actual detonation from carbon or low-octane fuel triggering protective shutdown

Symptoms you might notice

What to check first

Compare Bank 1 and Bank 2 knock sensor voltage in live data — both should read near 2.5V DC at idle. If Bank 2 reads 0V or 5V and Bank 1 is normal, the sensor or its wiring is the problem, not an engine knock condition.
