P0335 — Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit

STOPIs it safe to drive? The crank sensor tells the computer where the pistons are — without it the engine can stall or not start. Treat an intermittent one as urgent.

What P0335 means

The crankshaft position sensor signal is missing or out of range. It's the primary input for spark and fuel timing; a dropout means a stall.

Most likely causes (in order)

  1. Failed crank position sensor
  2. Wiring / connector (heat-related dropouts common)
  3. Damaged reluctor/tone ring
  4. Sensor air-gap or debris

Symptoms you might notice

What to check first

Check the sensor signal cranking with a scope or meter; inspect wiring and the connector for heat damage. A no-start with a dead tach points right here.
