What P0410 means

This is a manufacturer-specific code — its meaning depends on the vehicle’s make (see below).

What P0410 means on specific makes

Mercedes-Benz CAUTION

Generic code but extremely common on Mercedes (M112/M113/M272 etc.). The secondary air (smog) pump or its check valves/lines fail, usually moisture-killed pump or stuck valves — a cold-start emissions function.

  1. Failed secondary air injection pump (moisture damage) ($200-500)
  2. Stuck/leaking air check (shutoff) valves ($100-300)
  3. Switchover/vacuum control valve
  4. Clogged air passages

Check first: Test the SA pump runs at cold start and that the check valves hold. Note MB techs see this as a near-wear-item on older V6/V8s.
