P0452 — EVAP Pressure Sensor Circuit Low
SAFEIs it safe to drive? Fuel tank pressure sensor is reading too low — emissions fault only, drivable.
What P0452 means
The FTP sensor signal voltage dropped below the minimum expected value (typically below 0.1V). The ECM sees an implausibly low pressure signal, indicating either a short to ground in the sensor circuit or a failed sensor.
Most likely causes (in order)
- Wiring shorted to ground between sensor and ECM
- Sensor connector corroded, especially on sensors mounted near the fuel tank
- FTP sensor failed internally (short to ground in the element)
- Water or fuel contamination inside the connector
- Chafed wire grounding on the tank or chassis
Symptoms you might notice
- CEL on
- EVAP monitor won't complete
- gas smell may or may not be present
What to check first
Unplug the FTP sensor connector and check if the code goes pending or active — if voltage immediately jumps to normal range with the sensor unplugged, the sensor is shorted internally. If voltage stays at 0V with sensor unplugged, the short is in the wiring harness.
