VW / Audi CAUTION

VW/Audi P1-code related to the cooling system not reaching/holding correct temperature — frequently a stuck-open thermostat or coolant-temp sensor on VAG engines.

  1. Stuck-open thermostat ($30-120)
  2. Coolant temperature sensor (G62, the green 4-pin) ($20-60)
  3. Low coolant / air pocket
  4. Wiring to the temp sensor

Check first: Verify warm-up temp with live data vs. gauge. The G62 coolant sensor and thermostat are cheap, common VAG fixes (often with P0128).
