P1326 — Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) - rod-knock detection
STOPIs it safe to drive? Don’t keep driving — risk of real damage or a safety issue.
What P1326 means
This is a manufacturer-specific code — its meaning depends on the vehicle’s make (see below).
What P1326 means on specific makes
Hyundai / Kia STOP
Hyundai/Kia-specific. The KSDS (a software/recall system added to Theta II 2.0T and 2.4 GDI engines) detected vibration consistent with connecting-rod bearing wear. It is a designed early-warning for imminent engine failure and usually triggers limp mode.
- Connecting-rod bearing failure / impending engine failure (engine replacement $1,500-10,000, often warranty/recall)
- Genuinely faulty knock sensor or wiring ($150-450)
- ECM software needing update (sometimes free)
Check first: Do NOT keep driving. Check for the open recall/extended warranty (many Theta II engines qualify for free replacement). A real KSDS trip is treated as rod knock until proven otherwise.
