P2015 — Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor/Switch Circuit (Bank 1)

CAUTIONIs it safe to drive? Drive gently and get it looked at soon — it can worsen or fail inspection.

What P2015 means

This is a manufacturer-specific code — its meaning depends on the vehicle’s make (see below).

What P2015 means on specific makes

VW / Audi CAUTION

VW/Audi staple (2.0T TDI and TSI). The intake manifold runner flap position sensor reads out of range — on common-rail TDIs the plastic intake manifold/swirl flaps are a known failure (acknowledged by VW). The sensor is integral to the manifold, so the whole manifold often gets replaced.

  1. Sticking/broken intake manifold runner flaps (whole manifold) ($300-700)
  2. Runner position sensor failed (integral)
  3. Carbon buildup binding the flaps
  4. Wiring/connector

Check first: Try to move the runner with a vacuum pump/by hand; if it won't move or return, the manifold is replaced. Very common on 2.0 TDI CR engines.
