P0112 — Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low

SAFEIs it safe to drive? Safe to drive short-term, though fueling will be slightly off — address it within a few weeks.

What P0112 means

The intake-air-temp signal is stuck below the low-voltage threshold, which corresponds to an implausibly HOT intake-air reading. The ECU falls back to a fixed air-temperature value and keeps running, but fueling (slightly leaner) and cold-start enrichment can be affected.

Most likely causes (in order)

  1. IAT sensor signal wire shorted to ground
  2. Failed IAT sensor (internal short)
  3. Corroded or water-damaged connector
  4. On integrated MAF/IAT sensors, the MAF unit itself may need replacement ($80–300)

Symptoms you might notice

What to check first

Disconnect the IAT sensor — if the code goes away or the reading jumps to a high value, the sensor is shorted internally. If the low reading persists with the sensor disconnected, the signal wire is shorted to ground in the harness.
