P0722 — Output Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal
CAUTIONIs it safe to drive? No output speed signal. The transmission and ABS/stability systems may lose vehicle-speed input — shift quality will be wrong and speedometer may read zero.
What P0722 means
The TCM and often the ABS module share the output speed sensor. A complete loss of signal affects shift scheduling and can trigger both transmission and ABS warning lights simultaneously. Check fluid and wiring before condemning the sensor.
Most likely causes (in order)
- Broken wire or disconnected connector
- Failed output speed sensor
- Blown fuse feeding the sensor circuit
- Damaged reluctor ring
Symptoms you might notice
- Speedometer drops to zero
- Harsh or no upshifts
- ABS and trans lights on together
What to check first
Verify power, ground, and signal at the sensor connector. If you're getting power and ground but no AC signal while moving, the sensor or reluctor ring is bad.
