P0748 — Pressure Control Solenoid Electrical
CAUTIONIs it safe to drive? The main line-pressure solenoid has an electrical fault. Shift quality will be off; the trans may shift harsh or go into a pressure-protection mode.
What P0748 means
P0748 is the electrical version of P0746 — the circuit to the pressure control solenoid is open or shorted, not just performing poorly. Usually the solenoid coil or its wiring. Check the connector and measure resistance before pulling the valve body.
Most likely causes (in order)
- Failed pressure control solenoid (open or shorted coil)
- Wiring fault to the solenoid
- Corroded connector inside the transmission or at the TCM
- Dirty fluid/debris fouling solenoid (change fluid first)
Symptoms you might notice
- Harsh shifts
- Erratic shift pressure
- Check-engine and trans light
What to check first
Measure resistance at the solenoid connector (spec varies by make — typically 5-30 ohms). If OL or near-zero = solenoid. If in-range, trace the wiring to the TCM.
