P0751 — Shift Solenoid A Performance / Stuck Off
CAUTIONIs it safe to drive? Shift solenoid A is stuck off or not performing to spec. Certain gears won't engage correctly — avoid prolonged driving.
What P0751 means
The performance version of P0750: the solenoid has power but isn't moving the hydraulic circuit as expected. Often a mechanical sticking issue inside the solenoid or valve body. Which gears are affected varies by make.
Most likely causes (in order)
- Stuck solenoid (mechanical — debris in the valve body)
- Dirty or burnt fluid
- Internal valve body wear
- Failed solenoid
Symptoms you might notice
- Missing gear(s)
- Harsh shift into affected gear range
- Limp mode
What to check first
If a fluid and filter service doesn't clear it, drop the pan and inspect the solenoid and valve body for debris. Command the solenoid on with a scanner — if resistance is good but it doesn't shift, it's mechanically stuck.
