C0050 — Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit
CAUTIONIs it safe to drive? ABS, traction, and stability are off — regular brakes work normally. Drive with extra following distance.
What C0050 means
Same principle as C0045 on the right rear. On rear-wheel-drive vehicles the sensor is often near the differential; on front-wheel-drive it's at the trailing arm. Rust and road debris damage are the leading causes on older vehicles.
Most likely causes (in order)
- Corroded or cracked harness at the right rear
- Failed wheel speed sensor
- Damaged tone ring or bearing
- Harness abrasion on suspension or brake components
Symptoms you might notice
- ABS light on
- Traction and stability off
What to check first
Get the car on a lift and trace the entire right-rear harness from the sensor to the body. Look for cracked insulation, missing harness clips, and green corrosion in the connector.
